Gionee A1 and A1 Plus were launched today today at the ongoing MWC 2017. Both smartphones are the first in the new A series from Gionee. Carrying the tagline “super camera, super battery”, these mid-range smartphones focus on delivering a good camera experience in this segment. The A1 Plus also features a dual camera setup on the back, and a whopping 20 MP camera on the front.

Gionee A1 Specifications

The Gionee A1 sports a 5.5 inch full-HD(1080p) IPS LCD display with a 2.5D curved glass and Gorilla Glassprotection. It is powered by a 1.8 GHzocta-core Mediatek Helio P10 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It comes with 64GBof on-board storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via microSD card.

In terms of imaging, the Gionee A1 has a 13MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.0+ sensor, 5P lens on the rear. On the front, it has a 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.06″ sensor, 5P lens and selfie flash. The camera app includes features like best shot, tap-to-focus, panorama, HDR, geo tagging, and etc. It runs on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat update with Amigo OS on top of it.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual SIM, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB OTG. It packs a massive 4,010mAh battery inside with fast charge support. It measures 154.5×76.5×8.5mm and weighs 182 grams. It also features a fingerprint sensor and Waves MaxxAudio for an enhanced audio experience.

Gionee A1 Plus Specifications

The Gionee A1 Plus features a 6-inch full-HD (1080p) IPS LCD display with a 2.5D curved glass. It is powered by a 2.5 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P25 processor with Mali-T880 GPU. It comes with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage which is further expandable up-to 256GB.

It features a dual camera setup on the rear. It has a main 13MP camera with LED flash, PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, 1/3.06″ sensor, 5P lens and a 5MP secondary camera. On the front, it features a 20MP camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.8″ sensor, 5P lens, and a selfie flash.

The A1 Plus packs a 4,550 mAh battery and runs on Android 7.0 Nougat with Amigo OS 3.6 on top. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. It also features a fingerprint sensor like Gionee A1. It measures 166.4 x 83.3 x 9.1mm and weighs 226grams.

Pricing and Availability

The Gionee A1 is priced at 349 Euros which roughly translates to Rs. 24,630 and will be available in Gray, Black and Gold color options.

The Gionee A1 Plus is priced at 499 Euros which roughly translates to Rs. 35,210 and will be available in Gray and Mocha Gold color options.

Both the devices will be available after April, 2017.

When everyone is announcing their new smartphones at MWC, Alcatel is not left behind. Alcatel announced three new smartphone and a tablet at MWC 2017, Barcelona. The smartphones are Alcatel A5 LED, A3, U3, U5 and the tablet isAlcatel PLUS 12. These are affordable series smartphones however the company hasn’t revealed the prices yet.

Alcatel A5 LED was the main highlight as it comes with a very exciting removable LED back cover which is something new to see. The LED pack covers are also very customizable and we can set a particular colour for calls, messages, mails, etc which is a great feature. Where all these smartphones runs on Android, the Alcatel Plus 12 tablet runs on Windows 10 OS.

Alcatel A5 LED Specifications

The Alcatel A5 LED features a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with HD (720p) resolution. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz octa-core Mediatek MT6753 chip-set coupled with 2GB of RAM. It has got 16GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable via micro-SD card.

Camera optics includes a 8MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, dual tone LED flash and a5MP front facing camera with LED flash. It runs on Android Marshmallow (6.0) and packs a 2,800mAh battery.

Connectivity options include 4G LTE, dual SIM, WiFi  802.11b/g/n, WiFi direct, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro USB 2.0. It measures 146 x 72.1 x 7.7mm and thickness goes up to 10.2mm with LED covers.

Alcatel A3 Specifications

The Alcatel A3 features a 5 inch IPS LCD display with HD (720p) resolution. It is powered by a 1.25 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6737 chip-set coupled with 1.5GB of RAM. It has got 16GB of inbuilt storage which is expandable upto 32GB via micro-SD card.

Camera optics includes a 13MP rear camera with auto-focus, LED flash and a 5MP front facing camera with LED flash. It runs on Android Marshmallow (6.0) and packs a2,460mAh battery.

Connectivity option includes 4G LTE, VoLTE, VoWiFi, dual SIM, WiFi 802.11b/g/n, WiFi direct, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, GPS/ A-GPS, and a micro USB port. This device surprisingly comes with a fingerprint sensor and front-facing speakers.

Alcatel Plus 12 Specifications

The Alcatel Plus 12 features a 11.6 inch IPS LCD display with full-HD (1080p) resolution. It is powered by an Intel Celeron N3350 processor coupled with  4GB of RAM. It has got 32GB eMMC SSD and 32GB (micro-SD card) of inbuilt storage which is expandable upto128GB via micro-SD card.

Camera optics includes a 5MP rear camera. It runs on Windows 10 OS and is backed by a 26.8WHr battery. Connectivity option includes 4G, Wi-Fi, micro HDMI, USB-A, USB-C, and a 3.5mm audio jack. It measures 284 x 175 x 7.9mm.

The tablet comes with a detachable keyboard which is powered by Qualcomm MDM9207 chip-set and is coupled with 128MB of RAM. It packs a 2580mAh battery and features a full-size USB-A port for connectivity.  It also supports 4G LTE and Wi-Fi hotspot for up to 15 devices.

“With the A5 LED, Alcatel is delivering new fun features, like light-up notifications and unique LED cover patterns and themes you create yourself, as well as an enhanced multimedia experience and more ways to take and share selfies, ideal for people who value having fun and letting their personality shine,” said  William Dowie, portfolio management director at Alcatel.

Pricing and Availability

Company hasn’t revealed any details about the pricing and the availability of all the four Alcatel devices. However since the smartphones are affordable series phones so we expect it to be priced very reasonably.

Well, Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) had already announced the AMD Ryzen 7 processors which will feature eight cores and 16 thread. These chips are said to outperform Intel’s bests, and at the same time, the cost will be almost half the price compared to its competitors.

The three tiers of AMD Ryzen 7 chips are- AMD Ryzen 7 1800X, AMD Ryzen 7 1700X, AMD Ryzen 7 1700. The processors are almost 35% – 50% lesser if compared to the Intel’s. The Ryzen series of processors are all set to give tough competition to its competitors. AMD is always known to deliver high performance at lower prices.

Well, just a day after the release, AMD’s new Ryzen 7 1800X which will be available at $399, and it performs 39% better than Intel Core i7 6800K. The base clock speed will be 3.4Ghz, and the boosted clock speed will be 3.8Ghz has broken the world record for performance in CPU benchmarking suite Cinebench R15.

Group of overclockers has put AMD Ryzen 7 1800X chip through the test in Cinebench R15. The chip was cooled using LN2 (Liquid Nitrogen) to ensure the chip remained operational at -200°C.

Group of overclockers have pushed the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X to 5.2 GHz across all eight cores and scored 2449 Cinebench points, beating out the previous world record of 2410 on eight core processors. One of the YouTuber has grabbed the screenshots. You can watch the video here:

Now if we take a look at the price tag then we will get to know that AMD Ryzen 7 1800X costs just $499 whereas Intel’s i7 6900K costs $1,049. So, the price is half compared to Intel.

Moto G5 Specifications

The Moto G5 will be the “smaller” phone of the two. It will come with a 5 inch full HD display, protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The phone will run on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box, with barely any UI changes.

Powering the Moto G5 will a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC, with an octa-core processor and Adreno 505 GPU. The basic version of the phone will come with 2 / 3 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage with support for microSD cards.

As for the imaging, the Moto G5 will come with a 13 MP rear camera with Phase Detection Autofocus and dual LED flash. On the front you will get a 5 MP camera.

The imaging aspect gets a big upgrade, too. The Moto G5 Plus will come with a 12 MP Dual Autofocus camera on the back with dual LED flash and f/1.7 aperture. On the front, you get a 5 MP camera with f/2.2 aperture.
